Reads like Call of Duty (smells like metal and blood)

I was looking very forward to The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey, the sequel to The 5th Wave (see post below).  One of the reasons I liked 5th Wave was its setting in the Dayton area including significant scenes at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.   This one mentions Urbana and Huber Heights, so it’s still in the area, but the story was disappointing after a very attention-getting (disturbing and violent) first chapter.   The story continues to be extremely violent, almost like a book version of shooter video games.  If you’re a fan of Halo or Call of Duty, etc., this could be a great choice for you, but for me, not so much.  All that said (both here in in discussing both books with Mrs. Wagner who read them, too), I’m likely to read Book 3 (publication date unknown) just see how all this alien invasion war thing works out (although I think I might already know the answer and it’s all predictably bloody).  And oh yeah, there’s going to be a movie in January 2016.
